As part of the Pierre Boulez exhibition, students of the Conservatoire de Paris will be performing works by Pierre Boulez in dialogue with pieces by other composers, from Maurice Ravel to Stravinski, including Alban Berg and John Cage. A programme celebrating the musical richness of this avant-gardist, highly talented composer.
This walk-cum-concert will be a time for discussion and the opportunity to discover and play a selection of musical instruments tied to the theme of the concerts.

The European museum night

Saturday 16 May – 7:00 pm to midnight

The Museum will be hosting the musicians of the Ensemble intercontemporain during this late-night Nuit des Musées event devoted to Pierre Boulez. Numerous concerts will be held in the museum from 8 pm to 11 pm. Exceptionally the Pierre Boulez exhibition will be open from 7 pm to midnight.

Messages et Esquisses – Tribute to Pierre Boulez

In 1977, Pierre Boulez paid a tribute to patron Paul Sacher by composing his Messagessquisse for seven cellos. Today, Marc Coppey is reviving this idea by commissioning work from composers who are friends of Pierre Boulez.
